My Experience in AMITY, Jaipur Moot

“The harder you sweat in practice, The lesser you bleed in war” I have both experienced sweating and bleeding, though not in a war but as they say, for us law students, moots are the preparation of war in the outer world, after 5 years.             Bearing proudly the pageant of the 1 st runner’s up in the Amity National Moot Court Competition, Jaipur certainly pulls me up a bit in air, but the ground realities were, are and will always be imbibed in me (most probably).             “No matter if you lose, you will never end up being a loser, but a learner”. With this line of thought (which never is an inspiration but a consolation in the end), I registered for the competition. We had the moot proposition, the inspiration and the human resources to do the job. Now, we just needed to commence our respective jobs, which by the way, is not as easy as it loo...

We The 'Mango People' Of India

We The ‘MANGO’ People Of INDIA        Why is it that we feel a sense of __________, when we see a tricolored flag waving with all its pride! A sense of pride it is…..or is it?        Is desh ka kuch nahi ho sakta; Sab chor hain; Mere akele karne se kya hota hai! –the second thing that comes to my mind when someone recites (as if these are learnt by heart) these lines is, “we do not have time for all this”. Maybe that is the case with many of the young readers here and hey I have met some of them already.       We the aam junta of India don’t give a damn why are we not provided with a 24 hour electricity for which we have paid and instead, leaving all our works aside, find pleasure in staring a couple in public as if they are having sex. A person once said that “those who don’t have anything important to do, they try to do everything useless” (that person is my dad and this is not what he actu...

Grown Up, Unfortunately

Grown Up, Unfortunately      Time does heel everything or does it? Remember the times when all you got to worry about was, tying your shoelaces and to clear a certain level in a video game console. Where has the time flown by, is the most general question and I assure you even Stephen Hawking don’t know the answer to it.      Filled with anger, remorse and agitation now, one may easily make out that “yes, once I was a child ….just once”. The kingdom of independence or in more simple terms, ‘childhood’ which has been long forgotten, forfeited and demolished was everything, that each of us had, JUST ONCE.     The stories used to start with ‘Once upon a time’ and end with ‘happily ever after’ and still that was enough torture for the day. Taking time out from the ‘busy schedule’ for even a meal was a difficult task but our mothers were ‘kind’ enough to make us sit and finish the vegetables forcefully on the plate. Though ...

The Gods must be Crazy

-Do you believe in god ? -No, I’m an atheist. I only believe in things I can see. Well I bet you might have heard it from someone’s mouth or maybe from your own. This actually sounds practical, modern and cool too “Mom I’ve told you many times, I don’t believe in all this”. Being an atheist or not is not the question here, but why do I see more people now expressly denying their “God fearing abilities”. How dare they? I mean that’s the one and only thing that we Indians are GREAT at doing unanimously – Fearing God. It isn’t the Gods who make our thoughts bewilder, but rather the fear of dying has made us beseech the idols for our long life (with even longer monetary figures, of course!). The Idols no doubt have supernatural power, I have seen it myself – The power of attracting money . No one can deny the fact that our motherland is the most enriched soil, when it comes to the “ o(g)res of superstition” . The framers of our constitution in 1949 encrypted a ve...

Fundamental Doctrine of LIFE

- Hey! You up for the movie tomorrow? - Nah, I think I should better study tomorrow for the exams. - Okay ….. as you wish ! - Uhmmm… By the way, when is the show?                           “Friend in need is a friend indeed”, huh!!    Worldly wise, experienced, the ‘know it all’ people, or simply your parents and relatives may give you endless reasons why you should not be friends with someone who does not ‘tops’ the class.   The world gives us enough reasons to say, “I’m so fucked up”, but the ones who are actually fucked up, may not even know whom should they blame it to. Still we tend to complain about the shirt not matching the shoes.    We really do not know how good a thing is until it’s already gone . A thing could be anything here- as cheap as a pen in your pocket to as precious as your mother. The time ...
