We The 'Mango People' Of India

We The ‘MANGO’ People Of INDIA

Why is it that we feel a sense of __________, when we see a tricolored flag waving with all its pride! A sense of pride it is…..or is it?

Is desh ka kuch nahi ho sakta; Sab chor hain; Mere akele karne se kya hota hai! –the second thing that comes to my mind when someone recites (as if these are learnt by heart) these lines is, “we do not have time for all this”. Maybe that is the case with many of the young readers here and hey I have met some of them already.

We the aam junta of India don’t give a damn why are we not provided with a 24 hour electricity for which we have paid and instead, leaving all our works aside, find pleasure in staring a couple in public as if they are having sex. A person once said that “those who don’t have anything important to do, they try to do everything useless” (that person is my dad and this is not what he actually meant then. It was rather because of my 12th boards, you got the story now, right?).

Let’s face it, we are a deshpremi on the cricket pitch and deshdrohi when it comes to praise the way we are i.e.
“imp-perfect individuals”. One of my friends cannot stop complaining about our military forces whereas another friend is joining the same this year. ‘Diversity’ was believed to be our biggest resource back in 1947 and now we are just left with questions about the country’s Prime Minister’s ability to fight with the ‘silent mode’.

Ironically, when all the doors of hope seemed to be closed about the future of Indian politics (as if we really care) from nowhere a crepuscular ray named Arvind Kejriwal seems to be brightening up the already faded grass. A modern leader with some very common demands will try not to get involved in the already defamed politics and will try to stick to the basics. Best of luck Mr. Kejriwal!

A change is what we seek for. A surprise does amuse us all. Everyone wants to live in a ‘bright’ world but none seems to sacrifice their part of ‘light’ for it.

“We the mango people of India”

(P.S. - the “first thing” in the second paragraph was the dialogue from RANG DE BASANTI.)

It takes SOMETHING, to be that SOMEONE...

To be ‘a someone’, is actually not a bad place to be in. You can do things that you have never thought of doing, and even if you did not succeed, no one would care about your casualty. Probably, you have to keep trying until either: ·          You are good at it, or ·          You are just bored of it. ‘To do’ is to observe; ‘to observe’ is to understand and ‘to understand’ is to take one step ahead!               Keep moving until you reach a road with no footprints on it. You will surely think of making that U-turn… but No, you have to be positive. But, WHAT IF a wolf kills you ahead; WHAT IF a car hits you; WHAT IF you die! You could be that someone.                               So, keep moving until you reach a road with no footprints on ...

It is good to cry

Sometimes I wonder as to what is it that we really want? - Is it Money? - Or, is it Recognition? - Or, is it something more than that? We were told that howsoever bad situations may become, it will all end sometime, someday. Maybe it is just about to end, you never know!         Why are we working so hard? Why is it that you are reading this? Why is it that people love to hear from someone they admire? Why are we doing things? Everybody knows that they WILL die, then “why so serious”? Am I the only one who cares about my future and my ‘potential’ family, which I have no idea of at this juncture? It is fairly possible that humans were coded to be an ‘animal’ (like a dog) to their master. A human-dog that is capable of depicting sense and emotion and care for its future. Though, we successfully evolved (from a dog) into a human. But you know, a dog remains a dog! I think that humans, today, are still faithful to their respec...

You are the Change

John’s mother asks him as to where did he get his expensive shoes from? John had shoplifted that day. However, he tells her mother that a friend gifted him those. Mother somehow guessed that John has stolen the pair and tells him that she knows the truth and that he may fool the world but not himself… Nice story with a certain moral value. It is not John’s mother, but John himself who is being fooled, maybe not now but in his future endeavors. Why this story is important? ... Because I believe we all become John for one or the other thing in life, many a times. But what is worse is that most of us do not know that! Nichiren Daishonin , a form of Buddhist practice focuses on the law of action and it consequences. According to their belief, it is only our actions or in-actions that are responsible for the consequences in life and they believe in it with full heart and passion. However, one’s perception of an ideal future, that he wants to see in the world, is amazingly diffe...
